2010 Melbourne Cup in Australia

The 2010 Melbourne Cup is more important than previous years. The race carnival will be held on the 2nd of November 2010 and the actual race will take place at approximately 3:00pm. The importance of this year race is that it will be the 150th running of the event. Known as the event that 'stops the nation', crowd is expected to be larger than recent years.

As usual, the race will be held in Victoria at Flemington Race Course. In recent years, crowds have fluctuated around 100,000 to 110,000 attendees. The record however was in the early 2000's with a crowd of approximately 130,000. Although this number will probably not be reached in this year’s event, a crowd of 110,000 will not be shocking. For those unable to attend the event, television coverage will air on the day and it can be viewed live on various websites.

Although the field has not been announced yet, well known trainers have already given an idea of the houses they expect to enter into this year’s race. Owners such as Bart Cummings and Gai Water house will have horses in the Melbourne Cup field.

Choosing the winning horse on the race day is always a thrill. A large majority of adult Australians will place a bet on this year’s face, either in the form of a sweep or online betting directly with bookmakers. With increased technology in recent years, it is now easier than ever to place a bet with a number of different options both online and offline. For more information visit here: Betting Online
